Mountain Biking

Our Mountain Bike rides take place on the first Saturday of each month (with few exceptions) and follow routes chosen from Mountain Bike books held at the club (we may take other routes as well from time to time for a bit of variety).

The difficulty and distance of the ride will always vary depending on the skill and fitness levels of riders on the day. We always meet at 8.30am at Preston College Main Car Park on St Vincent’s Road, Fulwood. We encourage car sharing to the ride start and there is ample parking at the College.

Rides will often start in the Lake District or on local moors and woodlands and can be quite remote.

So, what do you need to bring?

  • A Mountain Bike!
  • A packed lunch
  • A change of clothes (you may get muddy!)
  • Money

Trailers MTB Group

Our Ribble Valley committee members have agreed to a new mountain bike group being formed alongside the Club Ride. The Trailers MTB Group has been born!

Initially, our rides will be aimed at those starting out or returning to mountain biking and should be relatively easy and achievable by all. However, the rides will require some effort, some hiking and some travelling to starting destinations.

Trailers aim to be out on the trails for up to four hours but duration may be extended over the summer months. Trailers will be more than happy to accommodate the slowest rider, have a coffee break and take time to admire the local views.

Our first ride was to Rivington Pike in March 2016.  Initially we aim to organise a ride once every 2 months.

Our next ride is to Darwen Tower on Saturday 21st May 2016.

Please meet at Brinscall Swimming Pool, Lodge Lane Bank, Briscall, Lancs, PR6 8QU at 9.15 for a 9.30 start.

If you are interested in coming along, please contact Sue Harvey or Angela Vart at the Club, or message one of them via Facebook,  so we know who to expect on the ride or to discuss any queries.
